Long overdue *LONG* update

I shouldn't have done it. I knew better. I knew that I knew better. I tried to talk myself out of it, but I couldn't. I looked everywhere for the box cutter....the scissors.....gone.....I should have realized it was a sign that this was not what I should be doing. I sat down on the couch and thought about what I was doing, but I just had to. Kaden would sleep for the next two hours....this was the only chance I would have. I went and grabbed a knife from the kitchen, not as efficient as a box cutter, but it would do the job. I went in the room that we designated as our office. I shouldn't have labeled things so well....I knew exactly where they were, and I couldn't help or stop myself. I opened the box and saw what I wanted. I grabbed the first book in the Twilight series and, unfortunately for my still unpacked home, I started reading. I read all four books in one week. 2,444 pages. My poor kids have never watched so much T.V. When Shane came home from work, he saw what I was reading, looked around at all the boxes I had said I would unpack that day, and said, "Oh great..." hahaha So, since I got distracted by Edward, my house took longer than usual to get unpacked and organized. We have lived here a month now and there are still a handful of boxes to unpack, but mostly they are Shane's stuff so he gets to do that. :)
So, let's see.....update on the last month.....we moved in on March 21st. We had lots of help from our families (thanks!) and were able to get everything moved in one day. I still don't have the after pictures of all the work we have done on the new home, so no pictures of that yet. The day after conference, Kaden came down with a fever of 105.1. Click here for more details on that. He ended up getting over the fever on Friday night/Saturday morning, and we never figured out what he had. All the tests came back negative, which is good, but we have no idea what was wrong. After that, it was Easter weekend. If you missed that blog post, click here. After that, Kaden and Lexi both got colds (thanks to Kaden loving to give Lexi kisses so much), and now Kaden is teething....again! He is getting his canines in right now, which are the last of his teeth until his two year old molars come in. They are both over their colds now, but Kaden's nose is still running thanks to those teeth. My older (but shorter-HA!) sister and Kelly (my son's future mother-in-law....lol) came over and we made bows!! For those of you who know how craft-challenged I am, bows are fairly easy, and Kelly and Suz helped me a lot. :) Here are some pictures....
The bows!! I knew I should do lots of pink...since Lexi has one purple outfit, and everything else is pink. :)

Lexi modeling one...I realized that she doesn't have much hair on top, so....

I tried a bow with her baby mullet!! lol Doesn't the bald spot make it so much cuter? haha Poor, tortured girl.

On Easter, Lexi turned 4 months old! She is still wearing 0-3 months clothes, but she doesn't drown in 3-6 month clothes quite so much anymore, which I see as progress. Her 4 month stats:
Height: 23.2 inches (25%)
Weight: 11.9 lbs (25%)
Head: 25% (I can't remember the exact measurement right now)
So, the doctor said that she is as perfectly perportioned as you can get! :) Still petite, but that's okay. Lexi still wears shoes that are meant for 6 week olds...and the shoes still fall off. So, I am holding off on buying her anymore shoes until her feet decide to grow.
Kaden's doctor told me that to help make the transition to the new house easier for Kaden, make his new room exactly like his old one, but that it will still be hard for Kaden. Well, no one told Kaden that! He absolutely LOVES the new house (so much more room to run!) and has not had one problem with it. I was going to wait a while longer before putting him in a toddler bed, but he was doing well with the new house, so, I put together his toddler bed! All my myself!!
Liz came over and helped him break it in...wow, I didn't expect him to have a girl in his bed so soon! ;)

After spending hours (literally-I am not very handy) putting his bed together, this is how he sleeps on it. haha
I had heard horror stories about transitioning kids to toddler beds, but Kaden LOVED it. He has been in it a week now and not once has he gotten out of bed after I put him in it. He will even wait to get up until I come and get him (even though I leave his door open so he can come out whenever he wants to). Also, we have almost totally eliminated binky's! The only time he has them now is at night, which is only because I am too chicken to try to put him to bed without one. :) Actually, I did try last week and he went to sleep just fine without it, but I didn't realize he was teething and he woke up screaming for a half of an hour at 4 am, so I gave him the binky then. Now I am waiting for those teeth to come through before trying that again. Lately, Kaden will find the camera, then bring it to me and stand there like this:
....until I take his picture. So handsome! I can't believe how big he is getting! His favorite things to say lately are, "Where is it (or he or she)?" "Where it go?" "Who is it?" (he loves to knock on everything and says it after knocking...haha) "Sis!" "What doing?" (he asked that when Shane went to go shower and I was really surprised). The other day Shane called to me, "Lor-ett-a" two seconds later, Kaden (who was standing right next to me) said, "o-ed-a" in the same sing-songy tone that Shane had. It was hysterical! Shane heard him and was laughing so hard.

This is how Lexi loves to sleep...no blankets on her feet (hence the socks), and with her head covered. Needless to say, I am a worry wart mom and move the blanket once she is sound asleep. She started sleeping through the night at about 3 1/2 months old, which I am loving! The only time she struggled was last week when she was sick. She would wake up from coughing or because her nose was stuffed and she couldn't breathe, but she has gotten back into her routine very nicely. :)

Kaden stealing Lexi's shoe. I don't know why he likes shoes so much, but he does!

Lexi will be smiling HUGE (with her whole mouth in a big grin) and then see the camera and keep her mouth open, but lose the smile part. Modeling her new bows...

She will be a girly girl, if it's the last thing I do! haha

So pretty! The challenge with the bows has been keeping Kaden away from them. Lol
Kaden loves his sister and is always as close to her as he can get. She is very patient with him. :)

We have had lots of visitors since moving in (which we love!). This is Sophia, my cousin's little girl, who is adorable and has an awesome T-ball set that we need to buy for Kaden since he can't get enough of it.

My niece, Taliyah, and her "pirate grin" as her mom calls it. So cute!

My little sis, Jacquelyn, and Taliyah. Taliyah was sick of smiling by this point. hahaha

It took a while for stupid Qwest to get our internet hooked up so I went up to Weber one night to do some homework. Shane was in charge of the kids (for one measly hour) and when I came home, he told me that Lexi screamed the whole time (Me:"well, did you feed her like I told you to?" Shane:"You never said that!" which, by the way, I did...) and while she was screaming, so was Kaden. After a while of both kids screaming, Kaden (who was sitting in the hallway) suddenly stopped. Shane went to go make sure he was okay and found this:

That's right......totally asleep!

hahaha I am glad Shane is as camera crazy as I am and got some good shots of this.

This picture makes me laugh so hard. We were at a friend's house and got home late. Kaden fell asleep in the car and Shane put him on the changing table to put in him pajamas and change his diaper. Well, he stayed asleep! lol This is him completely asleep! He looks like a dead bug, huh?

He eventually put his feet and arms down, but never really become totally conscious while I was changing him. hahahahaha

Well, I think that is mostly everything that has happened to us in the last month or so. :) If you stuck with me, thanks! You are awesome!

Springtime!!

I know I haven't gotten everyone caught up on what has happened the last three weeks, but I wanted to do an Easter post before it gets too late. I will do another post later this week with what has been going on since we moved into the new house. SO, Easter was really fun! Kaden started to feel a little bit better on Friday, especially when he was drugged. :) Saturday we went to my mom's house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt. Dinner was delicious and the egg hunt was funny, since McKayla was the only one who cared about searching for eggs. Kaden found one, got it open, saw the candy, and decided that he didn't need anymore...haha. Sunday morning we did pictures with the kids and their baskets. What do you get a 4 month old for Easter? I'm glad you asked....
Lexi got an Easter dress, baby cereal (yay! can't wait to try that out on her one of these days), and chocolate (which since she can't have yet, I will sacrifice and eat it for her....haha)

How adorable is she?!

Four months old today!

I was really, really excited for Kaden to wake up and see his basket. He had seen what we had gotten him at the store, and he really wanted it, so I knew he would love Easter morning. He finally woke up close to 9:00 and this is what happened:
He saw the ball....gasped in surprise/excitement....

Took the ball and couldn't care less about the candy...hahaha...that's my boy!

I showed him the candy....he saw chocolate.....

Marshmellows + chocolate =

One happy little boy!

Lexi in her Easter dress!

She was mad because I woke her up to get her dressed, then stuck a camera in her face...

After church,we went to my dad's house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt. I was hoping Kaden would do better the second time around, since now he knew there was candy inside ALL of the eggs, not just the first one he grabbed....

He got the point this time...yay!....but we still had to pause every 10 or so eggs for a candy break. :)

Kaden was very intently watching Sophie, my cousin's cute little girl, and making sure she didn't take all of the eggs...hahaha

Cute Lexi enjoying the weather. I can't wait until she can join in the fun next year!!

It's about time!

I know I have been slacking in the posting department lately, but we just recently got the internet at our new home (yay!), so give me some time for some fun pics. :) For an update: we moved in about two and a half weeks ago. It has been a TON of work (thanks to those who have helped paint and remodel), but very worth it. Lexi is almost four months old now and sleeping through the night! She started that a couple of days after we moved in here. I love this little girl. She will usually eat about 8 or 9 pm, then sleep until 7-8 am. Yay!! Kaden absolutely LOVES the new house (a lot more room to run around, plus a fenced in backyard that he can't get enough of...we need to get a swingset or something...). The most recent news is about poor Kaden. Monday morning he woke up with a temperature (don't ask me what it was because we don't have a thermometer that works). He got worse and worse throughout the day and wasn't eating and barely drinking. When Shane got home from work, Kaden was HOT. I took him into the doctor and his temperature was 105.1....yikes! They gave him Tylenol immediately and started running tests. The tests for strep throat and two different kinds of flu came back negative, so they sent us to the hospital for lab work. They took his blood and got some respiratory samples, then sent us home, but said to wait up in case the tests came back positive (in which case we would have to go back to the hospital immediately for an emergency shot of antibiotics). It was really late by this point, but we have some great friends who came over and helped Shane give Kaden a blessing. The hospital ended up calling an hour early (thankfully) and said that the test to see if it was a bacterial infection came back negative, so we could go to sleep, but the doctor wants to see him the next day to follow up on his temperature. He woke up Tuesday morning still REALLY hot, so I gave him Motrin immediately. That helped for about an hour, then he was back to not eating or drinking. I took him to the doctor again (but had given him Tylenol before this time so that they wouldn't freak out again) and his temperature was under 100 (YAY!). However, the doctor thought that the Tylenol was just helping the symptom (fever) and not curing anything since Kaden woke up really hot again. They ran yet more tests which came back negative. So, at this point we are waiting for a blood culture to come back (should be in later today) to see if it is a bacterial infection in his blood (in comes the emergency shot of antibiotics if it is). The doctor thinks it could be one of two things: 1) Roseola-which, according to webmd.com, is:

"Roseola often starts with a sudden high fever [103 F to 105 F] that lasts 2 to 3 days, although it can last up to 8 days. The rapid increase in temperature may be the first sign of roseola and often occurs before you realize that your child has a fever. The fever ends suddenly. (still waiting for that to happen...)

After the fever ends, a rosy-pink rash may appear mostly on the trunk (torso), neck, and arms. The rash is not itchy and may last 1 to 2 days."

So we are waiting to see if a rash shows up in the next day or two. If it does, the doctor said to not come back in because we will know what it is, but there is nothing they can do about it. 2) Just a freak fever that goes away on it's own. So, we are just playing the waiting game right now. Kaden hasn't woken up yet for today, so I don't know if his fever has broken or not yet. Liz (Kelly's little girl) came over last night and she...well...she has a healthy appetite (even though she is TINY). While she was here, Kaden saw her eating and followed her example! He ate and drank more while she was here than he has in the last two days combined! Thanks Liz!! I will keep everyone updated whenever we find out new information. In the meantime, any prayers on Kaden's behalf would be appreciated.
