Sharing is caring

So, I am now convinced I have the World's Greatest Kid. I have been sick the last few days with a cold (when you are preggo, everything knocks you down harder than normal...). Yesterday, I was letting Kaden watch Elmo's World (his favorite...this week) while I rested on the couch. I was laying down and had closed my eyes when about two minutes later I felt a little hand on my arm. I opened my eyes and saw Kaden staring at me. He put Puppy next to me, smiled and walked off!! For those of you who haven't read previous posts about Puppy, Puppy is Kaden's all time favorite toy and he does NOT share him with ANY other kids. Puppy goes everywhere with Kaden and he will not sleep without him. It is always cute when we see Kaden talking to Puppy in his crib in the morning or after a nap and also when Kaden "reads" to Puppy. Anyway, this gesture meant so much to me-knowing how protective Kaden is of Puppy. I have lots of pictures to update on as well, but that will have to wait another day or two until school stuff calms down a bit. :) For now, enjoy my story of my oh so giving little man.

Talk about your dumb blonde moments...

So, even though I posted a buttload of cute pictures in my last post, I didn't get nearly as many comments on it as I did on my embarrassing story post! I am surprised by this, but I guess if people like random, embarrassing stories...I've got a ton of 'em! So, here's another one and I SWEAR it is true: So, in the Spring of 2006, Shane and I had been married for about a year. I should explain that I was taking three English classes that semester (and aceing them all-I know, I suck) plus a random one I can't remember. I had finished working out at the school gym one day and went to the testing center to take a test last minute I had spaced (of course). As I was walking in, this guy with hair like Heath Ledger in A Knight's Tale walked up to me and started talking to me. I thought he looked vaguely familiar and he started asking questions about a quiz. The conversation went like this (I will call him Heath...):
Heath: So, how did you do on that last quiz?
Me: (totally faking like I knew what he was talking about, but having NO clue whatsoever) Uh..okay I guess. (which was a total lie, but he didn't need to know I aced all my English tests...)
Heath: Oh sweet, well, so, I was wondering if I could get your number?
(At this point I remember him from one of my English classes and realize he knows how well I do in the class and is asking for my number to get tutoring from me...)
Me: Yeah, sure, no problem. It's (insert my old cell # here-I don't remember it).
Heath: Okay thanks. So....I guess I'll see you in class tomorrow, huh?
Me: Yup! See you then! (With way too much enthusiasm)
After this scene, I go take my test and then go home to Shane. I tell him what happened with Heath at the Testing Center. That is when this conversation took place:
Shane: (Not at all mad-trying not to laugh, actually) You gave him your number?!?! You're MARRIED!
Me: (Very confused) Well, yeah, but it's okay because he just needs help in the class.
Shane: (laughing....hard) Loretta--he was HITTING ON YOU!! (more hysterical laughter)
Me: (unbelieving) Whatever-no he wasn't! I looked AND smelled like I just came from the gym-plus I had my ring on! He really just needs help with English!
Shane: (still, of course, laughing) Um, maybe you haven't realized, but guys aren't always the most observant...he probably didn't see your ring. He was hitting on you!
Me: (panicky) Are you kidding me?! You can't be serious!! Why would he do that?! I looked so gross!
Shane: (very amused) Apparently not.
Me: CRAP! What do I do if he calls?!
Shane: Uh-tell him you are married!
Needless to say, Shane made fun of me for the rest of the night (and still does if this is brought up). Luckily, Heath never called that night. The next day in class, I made sure to talk VERY loudly to the girl next to me (after Heath came in and sat in front of me) about my wedding anniversary and the plans Shane and I had for that. Thankfully, Heath never even looked at me again.
P.S. In my own defense, this was my first time (in my life) being hit on. Seriously! Ask anyone I went to high school with-I was always the one making the first move with guys so I had NO clue what it was like to be hit on. And an update-I haven't given my number out to any other guys since then!

Photo catch up

Here are a TON of pictures from our long lost camera....enjoy! These are from the last few summer months.

Kaden "swimming" at his swimming lessons with his teacher
Even though he was a great floater, Kaden hated it. His teacher kept trying everything to get him to stop crying, but he was determined to let her know how mad he was. haha
This is at the Roy Aquatic Center. We went with Kelly, Suzanna and their girls: Liz and McKayla.
Isn't Liz so cute in her sunglasses?! Kaden was, of course, freezing after ten minutes even though it was like 90 degrees outside...wimp...lol.

I tend to steal Liz to come play because Kaden behaves SO much better with her around. He is a show off with her. Liz's cute facesI kept trying to get a shot of both of them looking at the camera, but Kaden was way too interested in Tarzan.
This was at our camping trip! The adorable Logan LOVED getting his picture taken.
The gang...preggo Kenzie cooking in the background, preggo Yuki chowin' down on the yummy corn on the cob, Josiah taking Kai away from something hazardous he was getting into....lol
Chad munchin' away at his corn on the cob...I think he had like 4 of 'em-haha Logan, once again, loving the camera.
Kai the cutie
Kaden used to love crawling around with either a spoon or a straw in his mouth, but it had to be mostly poking out like this...haha. So dangerous-I am glad he got over that stage when he started walking.
This past weekend it snowed like crazy-this was Kaden's first real experience with snow that he remembers. He really didn't enjoy it-obviously. :)
So, Shane, being the great hubby he is, bought his pregnant, craving wife a deep fryer (it steams, too!) so we could make homemade fries. I had never done this before, so here was my first go at it. Here the potatoes are cookin'. I was so impatient and kept checking it every 30 seconds.
The first batch is done! We forced poor Kelly to come try them (so I could get a non-biased point of view). She seemed to enjoy them, but then again, she likes peppers and tomatoes so her taste buds are probably warped.....lol.

Lost and found

So...I blogged back in August about our way fun camping trip with the Baileys and Halversons. I mentioned that we lost our camera and have been looking for a good deal on one ever since. It's been so sad because I am such a camera freak and I felt like I was missing out on so much of Kaden's cute faces and stuff. So, Saturday Shane and I were at Wal-Mart and looking at the cameras. We very nearly bought one, then decided to look at more online deals to find a better deal (well, Shane decided-not me-if it were up to me, we would have bought a new camera the day after we got back from the camping trip...). Anyway, the next morning we were leaving for church (almost didn't go-we were so late anyway and then had to clean off a foot of snow from the car...but decided we didn't want Scott and Kelly to think we are totally inactive...). During sacrament meeting I started looking through my bag for toys and treats for Kaden-he had plenty, but I just had the thought to look for more. I was searching and all of a sudden, I FOUND OUR LONG, LOST CAMERA!! It was in a side, back pocket that I swear I had searched a million times. I was trying to not completely freak out, but I was SO excited! I showed Shane the camera and he was surprised-but didn't show it because he is a man and doesn't show emotions. lol So, yeah. I need to upload all of the pictures and do a really fun pictures only blog to catch up, but that will have to wait until later when my homework is done. I also have been going a bit more camera crazy than usual so I will save the more recent ones for another time. YAY for cameras!!

Random story...

For those of you who know me, you know that there is nothing I love better than a random story, both telling them and hearing them. SO, here is a funny one for ya:
Shane and I have been researching homes a LOT the last few months. Shane is really picky about the price and area and the features (which is good...just something you need to know). I was looking on KSL.com today at the homes listed for sale by owner, like I often do, and I found one for a good price, but the address wasn't listed. So, I called the # which ended up being the # for the Realtor, Scott. I asked him what the address is, how many bedrooms and baths it has, etc. and he said he could e-mail me the details and also would send over another home that he has listed that fits what we are looking for as well. I thought this was so great! I waited very impatiently and about 10 minutes later I get an e-mail from him with a website to check out with these two properties listed. The Realtor Shane and I have sends us to this website all the time, so I was familiar with it. Anyway, the first home listed was UGLY and not in the best area, so I knew Shane wouldn't even look at it. I wanted to forward the email on to Shane at work so he could take a look at the good home. Sometimes at his work, he can't open up links in emails, so I wrote a note and said basically that "there are two homes listed, but don't look at the first one because it is butt ugly and in a bad area." I pushed send and a half a second later looked at who I was sending it to...it was SCOTT! THE REALTOR!! I freaked out and tried to stop the email from sending, but our internet is too fast for me. I was horrified that I just called his properties butt ugly and logged off FAST. I called Shane and told him what had happened. He, of course, laughed at me (like any good hubby would). I calmed down and decided I shouldn't just ignore the issue. I got back online and emailed the realtor an apology note and told him I meant to send it to Shane. I felt better and hoped he wouldn't be mad at me. A little bit later, I got an email back from him saying:
"That was the best laugh I have had all day. no need to apologize. You
are right. I am just the salesperson. I don't get to pick the homes.
Let me know if I can help. "
WHEW! That was a relief. And a little bit after that, I got another email from him with another home to view. It said: "A cuter home in a better area." I learned my lesson: always check who you are sending things to BEFORE you send them!

Pregnancy update!

So here is a long overdue pregnancy update! I am currently 29 weeks preggo and everything is going well. Baby Alexandria is growing tons, although I am not. I gained 32 lbs. with Kaden (I know I shouldn't admit that...) and so far with this baby, I have gained a total of 5 lbs. My midwife is not too excited about that, but I assured her I am eating everything in sight. I have craved root beer for the last month-weird-I know. We always bring home at least one 2-liter of root beer from the store whenever we go for anything. haha Here is a badly scanned ultrasound picture of Alexandria sucking her thumb. It is such a cute ultrasound, I just have no idea what went wrong in the scanner....so, yeah. If you can't tell, her head is at the lower right hand side of the pic and you can kind of make out her little arm going up to her mouth. SO CUTE! Kaden never sucked his thumb. The nurses said (after he came out) that he has a love affair with his tongue. For some reason, he was always sucking his tongue. I also have a pic of me from about a month and a half ago when I hit 6 months along. I am even bigger and more uncomfortable since this pic...hard to believe I've only gained 5 lbs! :)
HUGE belly!!

Birthday pictures!

Ok, ok, I know this happened like 3 weeks ago, but I have been a bit busy. Anyway, now that I have a minute, I will post the pics from Kaden's first birthday party that I know you all have been breathlessly awaiting. There are tons, so enjoy! We had a BBQ first, but didn't get any pictures of that since I was running around like a chicken with my head chopped off. P.S. A HUGE thank you to Kelly for letting us use her camera for the day (also for all the help she gave me in setting up...) and also thanks to Suzanna for being the photographer and going picture crazy. It's her fault there are so many pics on here...she gave me a ton to choose from and I am indecisive. :)

Lots of presents! Kaden really couldn't have cared less until the actual presents came out, then he just wanted to play with them-not open more. :)
Look close at Kaden's face-so random and cute! lol

Our friend's daughter, Halle. She was so interested in the gifts! I should have let her open the presents since Kaden didn't want to.

Halle and Kaden checking out the Elmo in the Tub toy.

These are a little out of order, but I wanted to save the cake pictures for last. So, after Kaden had his cake, we had brownies and ice cream for everyone! Here are Shane and Stephanie (it was Stephanie and her hubby's new home we were at...) dishing up the goodies.

Shane's mom and sister getting their dessert.

Some of our family that came-sorry to anyone that is not in the pictures! There were a lot of people there so don't be offended if you are not on here. :)

More guests-some of my side of the family.

Eating the yummy brownies and ice cream...mmmm...

Cake time!! I, uh...helped him blow out the candle. Ok, so I am the one that did it, but I am sure his wish still counted!

A shot of the cake. I didn't miss a spot when frosting it-that's where the candle was...

Kaden going for the cake. You think he's totally going for it, right? He's concentrating....going for it...

And then he just wants the frosting that barely got on his fingertips. Nice...

Shane trying to help Kaden dig in. I am a weird mom and wanted my kid to get really dirty and have to hose him down...

This was the biggest (and only) real bite he took-YAY!

Kaden kept crawling over to a spoon nearby so we thought he would dig in better with a spoon. We got him a clean spoon and I got a big scoop of cake. He took a tiny piece off the spoon-very politely-what a kid....I swear I don't know who raised him. I always thought my kid would be a pig and dive head first into his cake-oh well.

CAKE FACE! All done!

9. Did you get suspended/expelled? No way
10. Can you still sing the fight song? Heck yeah!!
11. Who were your favorite teachers? I really liked the young Mr. Reed-he was my favorite English teacher and taught me a lot, also Mr. Aird because in my three years of classes with him, I got to know a different side of him than people who just had one class with him.
12. Where did you sit during lunch? My sophomore and junior year I sat with my older sister, Suzanna, and bugged her and her friends, but my senior year was mainly either Wendy's or in the drama room with the other drama geeks. :)

16. What do you remember most about graduation? I skipped the after party to hang out with my college buddies from Macey's (grocery store where I worked). We had a girls' night that turned into a sleep-over then played raquet ball the next day with some cute college boys (also from Macey's).
17. Where did you go senior skip day? We didn't have one...but I often made up my own. :)
18. Have you gained weight since then? Well, right now I weigh more than I did in high school, but I am also 7 1/2 months preggo....but when I am not preggo, I weigh the same or less than I did in high school (I was a big girl back then....).

21. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself? RELAX! It's not the end of the world when your hair or makeup isn't done, everything that seems HUGE now, seriously won't matter 6 months after graduation.
I tag Dee Dee, Kelly, M and Hill.
