4 years!

Today is our four year wedding anniversary! We are holding off on celebrating until after we get all of the house stuff done, that way we can relax and do something fun! It has been an amazing four years together. We can't believe how far we have come in just four short years...two kids, a house, and a bond stronger than we ever thought was possible. We have been through some tough times together, but we have made it through and are better for it. I can't wait for all the fun times we have ahead! I love you Shane!!

Updates on the kiddos!

Kaden turned 18 months old yesterday! Lexi turns 3 months old tomorrow! Wow-my kids are growing so fast! Kaden had his well child doctor's appointment today and he is currently 24 lbs. 13 oz. (25% as always) and 33 inches tall (75%). He has grown two inches since his December appointment, which suprised the doctor because apparently kids grow the most during their first year (well, until puberty hits). The doctor also said that the picky eater stage kids go through usually stops (for 90% of kids) around 18 months. Yay! I really hope Kaden grows out of it soon...I want him to start eating more than oatmeal and Nutrigrain bars! Lexi will have her 4 month appointment next month, so no new stats for her, but her personality is coming out a lot! She is a talker!! She loves to coo and says , "aaaaa" when you say it to her first. She also looks for any and every excuse to smile. All she waits for is someone to look at her and smile and she immediately rewards them with a huge, toothless grin. She also loves to giggle. We were watching Brian Regan last week and she started laughing so hard! She honestly loves to watch him (but seriously, who doesn't?!) so whenever she is mad now, we turn his DVD's on and she is instantly happy. When Lexi is in pain (usually from her reflux-which is slowly going away) she cries like this, "Maaaamaaaaa!" It is so heartbreaking for me. Poor thing. Reflux is supposed to be gone betweeen 3 and 6 months old, so hopefully within the next few weeks it goes away. Shane and I are busy packing and fixing up the new house. We are moving next Saturday, and time is going by faster than we thought it would. We look forward to showing off our new house when it is all pretty!

A day to remember

Last Tuesday, March 3, was a very eventful day for us! We started the day EARLY because we had to be at the surgical center by 7:15am. "Surgical center?" you ask. YUP! For all those nonbelievers out there, you were wrong....I am not having 6 children....in fact, I am not having 3. We truly felt that our family is now complete and so I went in for a newer procedure called Essure. It is permanent (yay!) and the recovery time is amazing. Your tubes are blocked rather than cut, so it is a lot easier on your body. Anyway, we had gone in on Feb. 3, but the doctor couldn't put the coils in my tubes because my uterus was so mushy it "looked like I had just had a baby yesterday" not 7 weeks before...and my cervix was a freaking brick wall, when it should have still been soft from having just had a baby. So, the doctor told me that we have to let my uterus heal for another month and she gave me some cervix softening drugs to take before the next try. Everything worked the second time so in 3 months when the scar tissue builds up, I will be permanently sterile! After the first try, Shane kept telling me all of this stuff I said as I was coming out of the anestesia and I didn't believe him. For the second try, I told him to videotape me so I can see what I say when I am drugged. It's not pretty, but it is pretty funny. :) So, enjoy a laugh at my expense. haha If you want to know what I would be like drunk, here ya go: P.S. I seriously and truly do NOT remember this at all!

After the surgery, we went home so I could rest for a while. I was just mainly really tired, but up and about after a nap. :) SO, then at 1:30, we went and finally signed the closing papers for our NEW HOUSE!! I have waited a while to blog about our house because I wanted to make sure this one actually went through. We have been looking at homes since last May and have offered on 4 or 5, but each one fell through for one reason or another (one of them we were all set to go, but then the inspection found mold and termites! Yikes! and the owner refused to fix it...). I really wanted this home that we got, so I didn't want to jinx it by saying anything too early. BUT it's official now! We got the keys on Thursday night and now are going to do a lot of cosmetic fix ups. I will post some before and after pictures when we are done. We will be moving on March 21st!! So, if anyone wants to help....... :D
After signing a lot of papers (it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be, though), we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and take the kiddos to a park. Kaden has been to a park before, but not since he decided he loves shoes so he has always been in a stroller. We were there for over an hour and he did NOT want to leave! He had so much fun! We walked around the outer part of it and he was even so good to stay on the path with us. It was such a fun day and we will be back at the park as soon as this weather allows it. (Although, Kaden couldn't care less what the weather is like, he would go outside in a blizzard!) We once again drug Kelly and Liz along with us-thanks guys! I don't know what Kaden is going to do without Liz so close anymore. Here are some fun pictures and a cute video!
Lexi enjoyed sleeping at the park..haha

I think Shane was having more fun than Kaden on this slide ;)

Loving the swing!

Kaden needed Liz to show him how the slides work

He had a lot more fun once Liz got there!

He would try and be on the same side of the slide as Liz...haha

A fun weekend!

This past weekend we got to go see our good friends Chad and Kenzie Bailey in good 'ole Fillmore, UT. For those of you who don't know where Fillmore is, you drive and drive and drive south until you are in the middle of nowhere...then you are there! We went down there last May and haven't been back since, so this trip was long overdue. The last time we saw them was in September. Anyway, we left early Saturday morning (6:30 am) and I thought Kaden would sleep the whole way down...nope! He LOVED being allowed to eat in his car seat! He just had this look on his face like it was Christmas morning. He didn't sleep at all and just looked around and munched the whole way there. He was SO well behaved! Lexi, of course, slept for most of it. We spent Saturday relaxing and catching up. Kenzie suggested having the boys (her oldest is Logan and he is 2 1/2 years old...Gaines is her other child and he is 5 weeks old) go outside in their massive huge yard and play. I told her that Kaden won't wear shoes and asked if there are thorns in their yard. She looked at me like I was insane and asked me why he doesn't wear shoes. I told her that we have tried a LOT the past year to get him to wear them, but each and every time he throws the BIGGEST fit and either acts like his legs are paralyzed or just screams and screams until you take them off. The longest he went was 30 continous minutes of screaming...that was Thanksgiving and the last time I tried to put shoes on the kid. She said that she has a lot of shoes from when Logan was younger and said we should try those. I reluctantly said ok, but could alrady picture the screaming and kicking that would result and I would once again feel hopeless. We first tried on size 4...WAY too small.....then size 5...better, but still small and not wide enough (he got his daddy's feet)....size 6 was perfect with a bit of growing room. Kenzie had some Nike tennis shoes that Logan never wore since he had so many shoes so she told us to keep them! Kaden threw a fit while we tried to put his shoes on. I held him in my lap while Chad got the shoes on and tied them in TIGHT double knots. Shane took Kaden outside and I was prepared for the temper tantrum. I grabbed the camera (I think odd things are funny) and went outside. Kaden was standing up...in the shoes! He was a bit unsteady, but Shane and Chad each held a hand and soon (with the temptation of basketballs) Kaden was WALKING around in SHOES!!! I was thrilled! It may sound completely dumb, but I have wanted to get him wearing shoes for SO long! I think he finally warmed up to the idea because he saw Logan wearing shoes. They played so well together and it was so sad when they had to take naps or go to bed. Sunday we had dinner at Chad's parent's house, Karma and Stewart, whom I absolutely LOVE! Karma is the sweetest woman you will ever meet (besides my own mom, of course). We ate until we were stuffed, then headed home that night. Kaden hardly ate anything all day Saturday and most of Sunday. When we sat down for dinner Sunday night, he made up for the last two days of starvation. He had just been too busy playing with Logan to eat! :) Here are some fun pictures for you...sorry if you get sick of seeing Kaden wearing shoes...I was excited. :D

Kaden enjoying the car ride down there. He loves the Beach Boys...or maybe just how mom and dad belt it out to their tunes....haha.

Kaden was still deciding what he thought about the shoes when their cat, Jasper, (Emmett ran away) came up and started rubbing against him. He did NOT know what to think of it. He had never seen a cat in real life before.

Tempting him with the basketball.....

Me, Lexi, Kenzie and Gaines! The weather was gorgeous. I am ready for spring!!

Kaden loved the tire swing!

"I think I like these shoes! It means I get to play outside!"

Logan playing on the rocking horse. He tried to show Kaden how, but Kaden did not enjoy it.

This is where Lexi spent most of the weekend. She loved the vibrating bouncer and we are looking into getting one now. :)

Gaines McKay Bailey

Logan cheesing it up :)

This was so funny....we put them next to each other and Gaines was out. Lexi just kept crying to be held (she even started punching Gaines in the face), but Gaines slept through it all.

"Mommy, why won't you hold me? Look how cute I am!"

She thought if she calmed down we would pick her up...nope! Just took more pictures! haha It is funny that Gaines is 6 weeks younger than her, but weighs more and is way longer than her, too.

Kaden learned to throw the basketballs into the hoop, well, he at least aimed in that general direction. :D

Logan repeats everything you say. We took advantage of this and taught him a bunch of new phrases to repeat over and over and annoy his parents! :)

The ground was a little uneven, so don't blame him for almost eating it. He recovers quite nicely, though.
